- Coaching
1. What is coaching?
International Coaching Federation (ICF), the leading global organisation dedicated to advancing the coaching profession, defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential.
Unlike therapy, counselling, teaching or mentoring – the coach does not provide the client with answers and instead offers powerful questioning, observations and techniques that help the client to shift and take action in their lives as a positive step forward.
2. When would my family need coaching?
Coaching is particularly useful when you are feeling stuck and need to uncover roadblocks such as limiting beliefs that prevent you from living the life that you want in a particular area.
People engage coaches to help with topics like the following:
Overcome challenging life situations
Improve personal relationships
Find work-life balance
Explore your potential and dreams
Improve and advance potential or careers
Provide essential life skills for children and young adults
3. What are the benefits of coaching for me and my family?
Coaching benefits and enables clients to be aware of their choices, make better decisions, take action, and ultimately use their unique strengths to achieve better results and life balance.
Our coaches are professionally trained to help individuals with effective personal and professional transformation.
Frolic for Life’s family coaching practice uses tried, tested and renowned principles and techniques that have been proven to transform, understand and appreciate the person that you are. Through coaching, we aim to help clients gain clarity on their situations and encourage behavioural flexibility that will enable them to make the desired changes in their lives. It also provides children and teenagers with a neutral stomping ground with a trusted adult that can support, guide and teach the fundamental principles of life and how to manage it.
4. What is the difference between coaching and counselling?
Counselling is a past-focused discipline, in which the counsellor identifies the reasons for the person’s feelings and behaviours and offers ways to handle a particular issue. Unfortunately, this often gives the client a label, e.g. “I’m depressed”, which they use to justify their actions and thereby limit their ability to change.
In coaching, while we recognise the importance of history, we do not dwell on the reasons, because we want to avoid this negative outcome. Instead, we focus on the future, because no matter what has happened in the past, any person can make life better and learn to achieve, grow and be happy.
5. What is the difference between coaching and teaching or educating?
Education is typically about giving information or introducing knowledge and skills about specific topics.
Some parts of our programmes consist of teaching – passing on the knowledge of human behaviour, success and happiness. Many clients are very good at memorising that knowledge and some of them already have that knowledge, yet they find it hard to apply this knowledge to make a change.
Everyone can benefit from learning about the way our brain works and the theories and research available to help us achieve happiness.
Coaching is more than teaching. It gives you the knowledge of what you need to do, the tools that help you do it and the support and guidance you need along the way until you gain control over your mind, body and soul. Your Frolic for life Coach will stay with you as long as you need and help you implement those new skills.
6. What is the coaching process?
Chemistry Session – we match the right coach to your needs and then set up a ‘chemistry’ session to determine if it is the right fit. A coaching relationship is based on trust and respect hence it is important that there is a degree of trust and comfort.
Customised Coaching Programme – once the coaching relationship is established, we will identify the specific areas which the client would like to focus or improve on and define clear outcomes for the coaching period. The programme will centre on providing support, tactics and actions with you. The coaching period is determined by which coaching programme or package you select.
Coaching Sessions – in each session the client/coachee (or the coach for kids and teens) will choose the topic of focus for conversation. Depending on the complexity of the topic, each session can build on the previous or, maybe a new topic. ‘Homework’ may also be assigned to enable deeper insight and practised actions by the coachee.
7. What are my responsibilities as a client?
The client is held to a high standard of responsibility and accountability. In order to make shifts, achieve results and see change, there needs to be openness, commitment and dedication from the client. Accordingly, the child is expected to be resourceful and take full responsibility for doing the self-development activities and work to achieve the desired results.

6. How often do I meet the coach?
Most of our coaching clients want to start seeing results quickly and we believe that gradual, steady improvement can be more lasting and permanent. To help our clients stay motivated and incorporate their learning into their daily life, we have designed some programmes to increase the time between the coaching sessions gradually. Your coach can explain this in more detail and agree on the scheduling and phasing before your programme commences.
7. Where will the coaching be held?
Coaching can take place within the residence for clients in Singapore, at a specified and agreed meeting location providing it has the required privacy and comfort, or virtually via video conferencing once agreed upon prior to the coaching programme commencement.
8. What is the cancellation policy?
If a client needs to cancel an appointment, this should be done so at least 24 hours prior to the coaching session to avoid payment being deducted for the session. The coach will likewise give the client at least 24-hour notice of the requirement to change or reschedule prior to any session.
9. How do you safeguard my interests?
The coach can, upon request, produce a current Police Clearance Check, Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance. The coach also has a Basic First Aid Certificate.
10. Will my sessions be confidential?
The coaching relationship is strictly confidential between the coach and the client. The coach will make every effort to honour the client’s confidence. In relation to a child or teen, the coach will advise the client of circumstances that might influence the coach’s objectivity or judgement or if the child or teen is deemed to disclose information that indicates they are at risk.
11. What happens if there is a conflict of interest?
Any conflict of interest will be discussed and resolved with the client’s best interests in mind. If a conflict arises, the coach or client will identify it and attempt to resolve it with mutual agreement. If the coach cannot serve the client objectively or respectfully, the coach will terminate this agreement.
12. Do I need to sign a coaching contract?
A coaching agreement is a good way to help our clients feel that they will get a quality service, provide clarity on the terms for the coaching relationship and also get commitment from them, which is essential. The agreement sets out the terms and conditions for the successful delivery of the coaching service and for achieving results. Frolic for Life uses a simple but comprehensive agreement as a good foundation for your coaching experience.
13. What is Frolic for Life’s Money Back Guarantee?
We have full faith in the impact our coaching can have and will pay back 100% of the coaching fees if you feel the service did not deliver.
Clients can request a refund up to 10 days after the last coaching session.
